Slim NEO Plate™
Summary
Slim NEO Plate is a method of using prefabricated plates as slab joints with Slim-Crete, a highly durable ultra-high-strength fiber reinforced concrete (UFC) developed by Obayashi Corporation. This method is best suited for slab replacement work in urban areas where there are time constraints due to high traffic volume.
Conventional joints between slabs are filled with high-strength concrete or UFC to join the slabs, but the process takes several hours to several days, making it difficult to open the road to traffic in a timely manner. Slim NEO Plate can support vehicle loads simply by installing the plate with a layer of asphalt on top, allowing for the lane to be opened to traffic. The voids below the Slim NEO Plate are eventually filled with Slim-Crete for long-term durability, but because it is filled from below the deck slab, the pavement above the plate does not need to be removed.
Features
Construction Efficiency
- After the Slim NEO Plate is installed, asphalt pavement can be used to open the area to traffic as soon as possible.
- The voids below the Slim NEO Plate can be filled with Slim-Crete from below the deck slab, allowing joint work between slabs while the road is open to traffic.
Durability and Quality
- The Slim NEO Plate method improves the durability and waterproofness of the joints compared to the conventional methods.
